La Mauricie National Park: Stunning Lookouts You Can't Miss

Welcome to Hai Hai Channel! Today, we’re exploring the beautiful La Mauricie National Park in Quebec, entering through the Saint-Mathieu entrance and following the scenic parkway through the Laurentian forest. Our journey begins at Esker, where we stop for a picnic lunch and take a short trail along the southern basin of Wapizagonke Lake. We then continue to Lac Modène, a peaceful and scenic lake known for its beautiful wooden dock and stunning reflections of the surrounding trees. Next, we take a short 200-metre hike to the Île-aux-Pins Lookout, climbing the stairs to a wooden viewing platform with a spectacular panoramic view of the Laurentian forest and the impressive 16-kilometre-long Wapizagonke Lake. Our scenic drive continues to the Vide-Bouteille Lookout, where we enjoy another beautiful view overlooking the cliffs and waters of Wapizagonke Lake. The iconic red Parks Canada Adirondack chair makes this a perfect place to stop, relax, and take some photos. We then visit Lac du Caribou, a scenic high-altitude backcountry lake, before stopping at Lac Gabet. Because of the time and weather, we decide not to hike its easy 3-kilometre round-trip trail and continue our journey. Before heading to our campsite, we make one final stop at Wapizagonke Lake, where we prepare for the next day's adventure. From here, we’ll begin our paddling and hiking journey toward Waber Falls.
