"The blade of the Ten Thousand Immortals." 🏛️⚔️
In this week's project, we are traveling back over 2,500 years into the golden age of antiquity to forge one of history's most iconic combat blades: the Achaemenid Persian Akinakes! Carried by the legendary Persian Immortals, royal guards, and elite warriors of Persepolis, this double-edged short sword was engineered for lethal thrusting precision and lightning-fast close-quarters combat.
I took a heavy slab of recycled high-carbon scrap steel and hand-forged this ancient warrior's blade from scratch. I hammered out the distinct tapered double-edged profile, meticulously shaped the iconic lobed pommel and guard inspired by real stone reliefs from Persepolis, and gave the steel a rugged, battle-hardened antique finish fit for the vanguard of Cyrus and Darius the Great.
🔥 The Test (Don't miss this!):
An empire-forging weapon was made to pierce through shields and armor. Stick around until the end of the video to see this real-life forged Akinakes face an intense destruction test against heavy layered leather armor, thick rope bundles, and ballistic targets!
