Featuring Side Loader, Septic Pumper, Container Delivery, and Forklift Action!
Every year at the end of July, my hometown of Tri-Cities, WA hosts three days of Unlimited-Class Hydroplane boat racing on the mighty Columbia River - an event that draws that draws thousands of people to the riverfront along both the Kennewick and Pasco sides of the river. Of course, an event of this magnitude creates some serious waste collection needs, with several hundred trash cans and portable toilets being deployed along the river's edge. As per city franchise agreements, trash collection on the Kennewick side is handled by Waste Management, while trash collection on the Pasco side is managed by Basin Disposal. Portable toilets on both sides of the river are handled by Basin Disposal's BlueRoom Portable Toilets division.
In the past, I've put together a large compilation video showcasing Waste Management's part of the clean-up operations, including the trash collection itself as well as the process of removing all of the containers from the park. This year, I decided to head back out and this time focus on Basin Disposal's side of the operation! The end result is this action packed 20-minute compilation which features the following:
First up is a Heil DuraPack 7000 automated side loader on a Peterbilt Model 320 cab and chassis, collecting lines of 300-gallon containers and 64-gallon carts along the Pasco side of the river. Next up is a Peterbilt Model 335 with an Erickson Tank & Pump septic tanker body, seen here pumping out portable toilets over on the Kennewick side of the river. Once the toilets are pumped out, a Moffett Mounty forklift begins to load empty toilets onto a Freightliner M2 with a flatbed trailer. Back over in Pasco, a crew loads empty 300-gallon containers into a stake-side trailer, pulled by a Steller Container Handler on a Freightliner M2 chassis. Meanwhile on the Kennewick side, empty toilets continue to be removed from the park, this time being loaded onto a trailer pulled by a Freightliner M2 with a Keith Huber Princess II septic tanker body. And of course, more segments of the Heil DuraPack 7000 side loader are scattered throughout the video!
I had so much fun filming and editing this one, there was a lot of cool and unique action to be captured here! I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I have, and I hope you all enjoy getting to see some things that I don't normally get to feature here!
Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to extend a giant thank you to all of the hardworking folks featured in this video! An event of this scale cannot happen without a hardworking sanitation crew working behind the scenes to keep things clean!
Thanks for watching!
