#NeutronStar #ParticlePhysics #Supernova Inside every hydrogen atom in your body, one electron circles one proton. They pull on each other with huge force. Yet they never merge. But deep inside a dying star, gravity breaks that rule in less than a second, and a core as wide as Earth collapses into a ball the size of a city. So what really happens when you force electrons into protons? We start inside a single atom and learn why its electron never falls in: a neutron costs an energy fee the pair cannot pay. Then we follow the ghost particle Pauli invented to save physics, the electron captures happening inside your own body, and the fight over how much weight a dead star can hold, from Chandrasekhar's math on a ship to Eddington's public mockery. Then gravity pays the fee. An iron core collapses, neutrinos flood out and blow the star apart, and a neutron star is born. We visit the 1987 supernova we heard before we saw, the pulsar Jocelyn Bell found on a strip of paper, magnetars, the 2017 collision that forged gold, and the point where even neutrons lose and a black hole forms.
