Dishes (Lyrics) | Three Weeks of Takeout Boxes, Then She Filled the Sink

Curtains shut, phone on silent, three weeks of takeout boxes on the counter. Everybody said it takes time, but time on its own wasn't doing anything. Dishes is a country-rock song about a woman who got up on a Wednesday for no reason, filled a sink with water hot enough to sting, and started there. Acoustic strumming into electric guitar and pedal steel under a warm, honest female vocal with harmonies. 118 BPM, grief turning into motion. "Healing ain't a feeling that shows up on its own It's a sink full of water and a woman on her feet You don't wait to feel okay to start You start, and okay finds you halfway home" Full lyrics on screen.
