Billy Joseph, Aiye Tambua & Rainbo Paita Pays Tribute to Liebert Kapris

The Papua New Guinea Parliament continues to pay tribute to the late Hon. Liebert Kapris, the Member for Maprik Open in East Sepik Province, following his passing. In this solemn parliamentary condolence session, Health Minister Hon. Dr Billy Joseph speaks first, extending heartfelt condolences to the Kapris family and the people of Maprik. He also delivers an important message to fellow Members of Parliament about the need to prioritise physical and mental health, attend regular medical check-ups, get adequate rest, and seek professional help when needed. He reminds leaders that caring for their own well-being is essential to serving their families, electorates, and country. Hon. Aiye Tambua, Member for Goroka, then shares his condolences and reflects on the loss of a young parliamentary colleague. He acknowledges the grief experienced by the Kapris family and the people of East Sepik, and recognises the importance of supporting young leaders and preserving their contributions to Papua New Guinea. Hon. Rainbo Paita, Governor of Morobe Province, delivers a broader reflection on the pressures and responsibilities of parliamentary leadership. He speaks about the demands placed on Members of Parliament, the importance of medical care and insurance for leaders, and the need for Parliament to take practical steps to protect the health and lives of its members. He also reflects on the legacy of public service, the loss of the late member's future contributions, and the significance of the Maprik electorate in Papua New Guinea's political history.
