Our journey to Mount Kailash continues… and the moment we cross the Nepal–Tibet border, the landscape begins to transform before our eyes. In the previous part, we travelled from Kathmandu through the breathtaking mountains, valleys and dangerous roads of Nepal all the way to the Tibetan border. Now we continue beyond the border and begin our journey deeper into Tibet, travelling towards Saga and eventually Darchen — the gateway to Mount Kailash. 🏔️ WHAT MAKES THIS JOURNEY SPECIAL? As we gain altitude, watch carefully how the terrain changes. The tall trees and thick greenery gradually become smaller plants… then shrubs… and eventually almost all the green disappears. What remains is the vast Tibetan Plateau — mountains, rock, open valleys, endless roads and enormous blue skies. The higher we travel, the thinner the air becomes. For travellers who are not accustomed to high altitude, even simple activities can begin to feel different. Staying hydrated, acclimatising properly and paying attention to how your body is responding become very important. ☀️ And then there is the Tibetan sun. We travelled during July, and despite the cooler mountain air, the sunlight at these elevations can feel extremely intense. Sunscreen, sunglasses, protective clothing and plenty of water quickly become essential. Along the way, you will also see: 🏡 Our stay after crossing the border 💧 A beautiful roadside waterfall 🏔️ Changing Himalayan and Tibetan landscapes 🛣️ Long mountain roads through the plateau 🏙️ A colourful Tibetan town under the intense midday sun 🌿 The gradual disappearance of vegetation as altitude increases One thing about my travel videos: I prefer to keep them natural. I don't want to talk continuously or cover every beautiful moment with narration. Sometimes nature does not need an explanation. It just needs to be experienced. So make yourself a cup of tea, grab a few biscuits, sit back, turn up the sound and imagine that my camera is your eyes. Travel these roads with me. Watch the mountains change. Listen to the water. Feel the sunlight. And experience Tibet as naturally as we experienced it. 🙏 This journey is part of our pilgrimage towards Mount Kailash. There is still so much more ahead that it simply cannot fit into one video. So this part ends while the journey is still continuing. In the next episode, we pick up from exactly where we stop here and travel deeper into the Tibetan Plateau, moving closer to Saga, Darchen and ultimately Mount Kailash.
