He relishes the role of Chris Hansen, his face under a constant partial shadow, playing the character like a supervillain original story- real world isn’t that far removed from the various nightmare scenarios in comic books. In one shot, as rainfall through a glass pane obscures half his face, you are reminded of Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, from the Batman series. Pattinson’s deception-laden eyes hold the darkness required to play a man who made a sport of catching people at their worst possible moments and broadcasting them to a nation frothing at the mouth. The harbinger of so much questionable “vigilante” video content now normalised all over social media, Hansen, bathed in light from monitors almost always surrounding him, smiles between takes like the God he believes himself to be. This Cedric Diggory makes for a great Voldemort. A climax scene takes place during an exaggerated version of a real event. While Hansen and his overzealous, unethical crew are trying to invade a man’s home with an armed SWAT team to capture him on camera, Hansen himself is being investigated by a publication for adultery. This man’s holier-than-thou public image was his entire brand, and he is terrified of being found out as a fraud and poseur. Pattinson is a madman in this scene—haunted by thoughts from an older report, the guilt of infidelity in his marriage, and the possibility of this being the first episode he DOESN’T manage to bring to its crude conclusion. Confused about which failure to face first—professional or moral—he remains rooted to the spot as chaos erupts. Again, it’s simple, but effective. Primetime is a 2026 American psychological crime thriller film directed by Lance Oppenheim in his narrative feature film debut.
