Why Does Your Portrait Look Flat? | Fix It With Better Blocking

Welcome to ZonVas. Why doesn’t your portrait look right, even when the proportions seem correct? In this video, I’ll show you my portrait drawing process, starting with simple blocking and gradually building up the values. We’ll begin with the center line, block in the main shadow shapes, apply light values to understand the structure, refine the outlines, and slowly develop the portrait with darker values. I also intentionally leave some areas unfinished to create a more interesting and artistic look.
