From Nursery to Bonsai ~ A Private Bonsai Styling Lesson with Martin Walters

🌳 Grab a cuppa, get comfortable, and join us for a very special bonsai styling session! After welcoming us into his incredible private bonsai garden, Martin Walters invited us back for a one-on-one styling lesson. His only request? Bring along a healthy tree! So we arrived with a rather bushy #Chamaecyparis, ready to learn. 🥰 In this extended, relaxed bonsai lesson, Martin takes us right back to the beginning, explaining how he assesses nursery stock, finds the root flare, chooses a potential front, and makes thoughtful styling decisions. From pruning and branch selection to wiring and creating structure, Martin talks us through the reasoning behind his work, sharing years of experience and practical advice along the way. And yes, he even sent us home with a little bonsai homework! 🤣 We wanted to preserve as much of this session as possible, so whether you're completely new to bonsai or have been growing little trees for decades, we hope you'll find something valuable to take away. A huge thank you to Martin for his generosity, patience, and willingness to share his knowledge with us and our growing bonsai community. ❤️ 🌿 Haven't seen Martin's incredible private bonsai garden yet?
