Train Your Ears: 50 Sentences to Understand Fast English | Shadowing English Speaking Practice
Practice 50 real English sentences with Emma in this shadowing English speaking practice lesson. Train your ears to understand fast English, recognize connected speech, and follow natural American English conversations. Listen, speak, and repeat each sentence in a natural → slow → natural rhythm.
Do you understand English when your teacher speaks slowly, but struggle to understand native speakers in movies or everyday conversations?
When Americans speak naturally, words often get shorter, sounds connect, and small words almost disappear. You may already know the words, but they sound completely different when spoken quickly.
In this lesson, you'll practice five common sound patterns to help you recognize fast English more easily. The goal isn't to make you speak faster. It's to help you hear and understand the English you already know.
WHAT YOU'LL PRACTICE
• 50 real English sentences with natural → slow → natural repetition
• Common spoken English reductions: gonna, wanna, gotta, lemme, gimme, kinda, dunno, outta, and gotcha
• Hear small words that become softer or shorter in natural speech
• Recognize connected speech when English words link together
• Understand fast everyday questions like "Did you," "What do you," and "Would you"
• 2 mini-movies at real conversation speed, followed by guided listening and speaking practice
• 6 extra listening challenges to test how much fast English you can catch
SHADOWING PRACTICE
Listen to each sentence at natural speaking speed, say it with Emma, repeat it slowly, and say it once more at a natural pace.
After each section, Emma explains the sound patterns you just practiced, helping you recognize how familiar English words change in real conversations.
You'll also watch two short movies at real speaking speed and practice selected lines again with Emma.
Listen. Speak. Repeat.
THIS LESSON IS FOR YOU IF
• You understand slow English but struggle when native speakers talk fast
• You know English words but can't always recognize them in real conversations
• You want to understand American English in movies and everyday situations
• You want to improve your English listening and speaking skills through shadowing
• You're an A1–A2 English learner looking for clear, guided practice with natural spoken English
Tell me in the comments: "Fast English, done." Which part helped you most: one, two, three, four, or five? You can also share one sound you can recognize now — gonna, lemme, didja, or something else.
