“Reaching for Mercy” is a raw cry for God in the middle of pain. A modern church-pop sound blends emotional vocals, cinematic atmosphere, dubstep, saxophone, and haunting Mongolian throat singing. This song is about grief, faith, and being allowed to feel—to wail, question, and seek the Lord in the way you know how.
(Written April 2025)
Verse 1
I'm lost in the shadows, where the darkness reigns
I'm searching for a beacon, to guide me through the pain
I'm trying to find my footing, on the rocky ground
I'm reaching out for a hand, to help me turn it around
I'm crying out for mercy, for a respite from the strife
I'm yearning for a sense of peace, to calm the turmoil in my life.
Pre-Chorus
In the hollow of my heart, a whisper starts to rise
A cry for redemption, a plea to open eyes
To find the fragments of my soul, to mend the tears
To discover the beauty, that's been hidden for years
Chorus
I know, I know that, I know. I know that. Jesus helps. I know that faith fills in the cracks I can't see.
Can't see. (See, See, See)
But Just let me be.
Just let me be.
Let me feel the sorrow like David.
Let me cry like Job.
Let me wail like Solomon! Let me wail to the Lord in the way I know how! In the way I know how
Verse 2
I'm searching for a light in the darkest night
A guiding star to lead me to what's right
I'm trying to find my voice, to speak my mind
To let the emotions flow, and leave the pain behind
I'm reaching out for hands to hold, to help me through
To find the strength to carry on, and see this journey through
Bridge
Maybe in the silence, I'll find my way
Maybe in the stillness, I'll hear what I need to say
Maybe in the darkness, I'll find the light
Maybe I'll discover that I'm stronger than I thought I'd be tonight
In the way I know how
The way I know how.
The way I know how
The way.
The way
I know how.
