Exploring Abandoned La Colle Falls Dam | Almost Destroyed The City It Was Built For【4K】

La Colle Falls Dam is a partially completed abandoned hydroelectric dam near the city of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Construction started in 1909 on the North Saskatchewan River. The city was sold on the project by one of the engineers of the Niagara Falls project, but he had very little involvement during construction. The project turned out to be too large and complicated for the local engineer. The initial proposal said it would generate 10,000 horsepower (7500 kilowatt hours) They did not consider if the riverbed was suitable for the dam and the water flow levels were not researched. If the dam would have been completed it was estimated that it would have only produced 4,000 horsepower, less than half the original estimate.
