The Energy Market Has Changed. Has Your Buying Strategy?

Many organizations still approach energy purchasing the same way they did five or ten years ago: wait until a contract approaches expiration, check current prices, run an RFP, and decide whether the market looks attractive. But the underlying risk environment has changed. Large-load growth, constrained infrastructure development, expanding LNG exports, and regulatory uncertainty are creating new challenges for electricity and natural-gas buyers. These forces do not wait for a contract renewal date—and reacting after prices move can leave an organization with fewer options. In this video, I explain why buyers should move from event-driven procurement toward a more programmatic energy strategy built around market intelligence, forward-price analysis, defined risk tolerances, purchasing triggers, and coordinated decision-making. The goal is not to predict every market high or low. It is to make informed, repeatable decisions before a deadline, or the market, makes the decision for you. If your energy strategy still begins with the contract expiration date, it may be time to reassess the process. #EnergyStrategy #EnergyProcurement #EnergyMarkets
