We roll out into the New Forest with thunder rumbling at our backs and sunshine breaking through—classic British summer chaos. This Burley loop turns lively fast: a gate stop turns into two “mechanicals” (low tyre + a rogue brake pad spring), then later a tubeless tyre cut geysers sealant up a leg. We check in on the spooky tree, and keep the group moving through showers, open heath, and fast descents leading to a tubeless tyre split toward Picket Post, nursed it back to Burley for the cafe finish. Along the way we chat weight vs. power, riding in the right HR zone, why stop-start kills momentum, and the eternal lesson: always charge the head unit (no Wahoo today!).
