Can you cool a house without AC? Earth tubes (earth-air heat exchangers) pull outdoor air through pipes buried about 3 meters underground, where the soil stays near 13°C all year, so hot summer air comes out cooler and freezing winter air comes out warmer, using a fan of about 40 watts.
In this 3D explainer we build an earth tube cooling system step by step: why the ground works like a thermal battery, how deep and how long the pipe should be, open vs closed loop layouts, why condensation needs a sloped pipe and a drain, how the intake tower and filter keep the air clean, how it works in winter, and where geothermal passive cooling makes sense (and where it doesn't).
