Speaker: Stephan Dempe Abstract: Bilevel optimization problems are hierarchical ones where the feasible set is a subset of the solution set mapping of a parametric optimization problem. For investigating and solving them they need to be transformed into a single level one. In the talk various different transformation approaches are presented and shortly discussed. Bio: Stephan Dempe, formerly Professor of Optimization at TU Bergakademie Freiberg from 1997 until 2023, earned his doctorate in 1985 from the TH Karl-Marx-Stadt, currently know as TU Chemnitz. He is a leading authority in bilevel optimization, having authored the seminal text "Foundations of Bilevel Programming" in 2002. His research covers a wide spectrum, including nonlinear and discrete bilevel problems as well as optimal control. Throughout his career, he has mentored more than 20 PhD students who have since become successful researchers in the field.
