This version comes from the landmark album Getz/Gilberto, recorded in 1963 and released in 1964, which brought bossa nova to an international audience. The recording features Stan Getz on tenor saxophone, João Gilberto on guitar and vocals, Antônio Carlos Jobim on piano, and Astrud Gilberto on vocals. Astrud’s understated English vocal debut became a defining element of the track and helped turn the song into a worldwide hit. Composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim with lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes, The Girl from Ipanema won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1965 and remains a cornerstone of the jazz and bossa nova repertoire. #sheetmusic #jobim #astrudgilberto
