Today, Part II takes us deeper. The question is no longer only, “Do I have the Holy Ghost?” The deeper question is: “Is the Holy Ghost shaping the way I live?” Because power should produce something. If the Spirit is working in us, our attitudes, reactions, speech, appetites, relationships, ability to forgive, and self-control should begin to change. 🔥 LOOK FOR THE FRUIT Galatians 5 teaches that the evidence of a Spirit-led life is fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. We cannot measure spiritual maturity only by what happens during worship. Can we shout Sunday and control our tongue Monday? Can we speak in tongues and apologize when we're wrong? Can we praise God and still forgive somebody who hurt us? The evidence of a Spirit-filled moment may be what happens at the altar. The evidence of a Spirit-led life is the fruit people experience after we leave the altar. 🎁 GIFTS VS. FRUIT There is also an important difference between spiritual gifts and spiritual fruit. Gifts demonstrate what God can do through you. Fruit demonstrates what God has done in you. A person can be gifted and still be immature. God is interested not only in what flows through our hands, but in what is growing in our hearts. 🧠 THE BATTLE FOR YOUR MIND Romans 8 reminds us that before behavior comes thought, and before action comes attention. What we continually watch, hear, rehearse, and consume eventually gains influence. Social media, comparison, anger, envy, gossip, lust, and even imaginary arguments can occupy our minds until they begin shaping our emotions and behavior. 🔥 Whatever gets your attention long enough eventually gains influence. If the world speaks to us for hours while Scripture speaks for only minutes, we shouldn't be surprised when the world's voice becomes louder. Starve the flesh. Feed the Spirit. 👣 HOW DO WE WALK IN THE SPIRIT? Three words: 1️⃣ RECOGNIZE Become sensitive to conviction and the prompting of the Holy Ghost. 2️⃣ TEST Does it agree with Scripture? Does it honor Jesus? Will it produce righteousness? 3️⃣ OBEY Once God's direction is clear, stop negotiating and start walking. 🔥 Delayed obedience often becomes disguised disobedience. Sometimes the breakthrough we're waiting for isn't another revelation. It's simply obeying the last thing God already convicted us to do. ⚡ RESURRECTION POWER Romans 8:11 declares that the Spirit who raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in God's Spirit-filled people. That means we aren't fighting temptation with motivational slogans or attempting holiness through positive thinking. Resurrection power is at work in believers.
