Is Steph Curry Aging Better Than LeBron?

Only six players in NBA history have scored 40 points after turning 38, and every other one is at least 6'5". Steph Curry is 6'2". Before this month, nobody 6'3" or shorter had scored more than 32 at that age. So I went looking for the catch, and I compared him with every shooter and every old scorer who ever played. In this video: • Why "shooting ages well" is only half true: what happened to Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Kyle Korver, Steve Nash and Dirk by 38 • The threes he's made since turning 35, the most in history • How Kareem, Jordan, Malone and LeBron really lasted, and why a 6'2" guard can't do that • The tracking data: LeBron, Durant and Harden slowed down. Curry didn't • The catch: a knee problem called runner's knee, and what hot starts at this age really become • My calls on his points, the all-time list and 5,000 threes Chapters 0:00 Only six 0:42 Forty-four in thirty-two minutes 2:02 The rule every shooter follows 4:07 How old scorers get away with it 6:37 The catch 8:28 What's actually real 10:15 My call Data and method Game logs: NBA.com/stats, 1946 to Oct. 31, 2026, regular season (the list of 40-point games also includes the playoffs). Age is calculated on the date of each game. Heights are as listed by NBA.com. True shooting = points / (2 x (field goal attempts + 0.44 x free throw attempts)). Speed and distance are NBA tracking data for players with 20+ minutes and 20+ games in 2025-26; tracking systems have changed over the years. This season's figures are a small sample, and the video says so.
