Using biomonitoring to improve risk communication in occupational health

This video is a recording from the PARC Webinar Series on Risk Communication. Held on May 5, 2026, and presented by Susana Viegas, Full Professor at the National School of Public Health, NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal), the webinar focused on the practical application of human biomonitoring in occupational settings. It explored how biomonitoring data can be effectively interpreted and communicated to workers, employers, and other stakeholders in a clear, transparent, and meaningful manner. The session also examined the opportunities and limitations of human biomonitoring, ethical considerations surrounding the communication of results, and practical case studies illustrating how biomonitoring can enhance risk awareness, support the implementation of preventive and risk management measures, and strengthen trust in occupational health programmes.
