S3E8 Clayton Craddock on Broadway | Talent Gets You In, Trust Gets You Hired

Talent Gets You In, Trust Gets You Hired: Broadway Drummer Clayton Craddock on Relationships in Music & Starting Over at 60 Host ‪@beckyboyland‬ talks with Broadway drummer, author, and podcaster ‪@ClaytonCraddock‬ about why musicians get hired through trust, not just chops. Clayton shares how he grew up surrounded by funk, soul, rock, hip hop, and jazz; was pushed into studying accounting at Howard University; then moved to New York in 1993, worked finance day jobs, and spent years building relationships that led to touring Footloose, connections to Tick, Tick… Boom! and Rent, and eventually his first Broadway chair in 2009. He explains his “Trust Economy” philosophy, why Broadway gigs are essentially temp jobs, and how versatility and financial stability help musicians weather gaps. After CATS: The Jellicle Ball closed, he moved to Las Vegas and is starting over at 60 while expanding Broadway Bound and Beyond, his book, podcast, masterclasses, and consultations.
