Street Fighter II' Special Champion Edition - 48 MBits Blast Processing Edition Version: SF2_SCE_48Mbits_v1.4_CON_ELEFANTES_EXTRA_FULL_USA Author: marcel_law    / @marcelolaw26   Patch: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/10098/ V1.4 - Release date: October 12, 2026 Street Fighter II’ Special Champion Edition, 48 Mbits 2026 v1.4, is an extensive reconstruction, restoration, and expansion hack for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The original 24 Mbit (3 MiB) ROM has been expanded to 48 Mbit (6 MiB), allowing for extensive graphical, animation, stage, and audio improvements. Several stages received major restoration and reconstruction work. Ryu’s stage has its hidden sky graphics reconstructed, with a new 512-phase animation system for the moon and clouds, while the architecture remains visually coherent. The birds around the pagoda were also restored and corrected. In Blanka’s stage, the clouds now move independently using a 256-phase animation system, without dragging the stationary scenery with them. Blanka’s electricity effects and palette restoration were also corrected. E. Honda’s stage restores the missing second lantern, including its cable, lighting states, end-of-round blinking, and correct behavior during camera movement and vertical scrolling. Vega’s stage adds additional dancer poses, orientation changes, revised roses, and two guitarists with animated hand positions. M. Bison’s stage was substantially reconstructed using the Mega Drive version of Super Street Fighter II as a donor, adapting its graphical layouts, floor perspective, bell, columns, statues, audience, and reactions to the Special Champion Edition engine while preserving the original camera behavior and breakable statues. The project also restores eight independent arcade-inspired backward-walking animations for Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Guile, Dhalsim, Balrog, M. Bison, and Sagat. These are distinct animation sequences rather than forward-walking frames played in reverse, and the original movement speeds, attack rules, damage, and collision logic remain unchanged. The final release also offers two versions of Dhalsim’s stage: the recommended v1.3 variant retains the original Mega Drive elephant arrangement, while the optional v1.4 variant adds two animated elephants to reproduce the arcade’s six-elephant scene. Both versions preserve the previous improvements. The project also includes sprite and effect corrections, restored and adapted Hadouken graphics, audio improvements, and selected music balance and timbre adjustments while preserving the original Special Champion Edition soundtrack. Sagat can perform the Tiger Knee using the familiar Shoryuken-style command motion. After defeating M. Bison, the credits play the complete vocal version of “READY TO FIGHT,” approximately four minutes long, without requiring a Mega-CD or additional sound hardware. Version 1.1 introduced a flexible three-button controller configuration system with Original, Single, and Switch modes. Single allows players to assign any of the six attacks to the A, B, and C buttons, while Switch provides two customizable attack banks. Player 1 and Player 2 can configure their controls independently, and the original behavior of six-button controllers is preserved. That update also fixed an intermittent graphical artifact during Zangief’s flight to Japan and an OPTIONS menu freeze on real Mega Drive hardware. The result is an expanded and refined version of Special Champion Edition designed to push the original Mega Drive hardware while preserving the identity of the game. The final v1.4 release includes both complete patch alternatives, with no further updates planned. ..................................................
