January 2006. Hundreds of police surround a bank in one of the richest towns in Argentina, with armed robbers and 23 hostages inside. That evening the police finally storm in. The hostages are fine. Nearly 150 safe boxes are empty. And the robbers are gone. Their guns were toys. The hostage crisis was a show, staged to hide the real robbery one floor down. Then they floated away through the storm drains with around $20 million. It took seven tricks to beat hundreds of police, and just one person to undo them all. Keep score as you watch: was this the perfect heist? 0:00 Surrounded 0:56 The Idea 2:41 The Crew 4:46 The Takeover 5:52 The Show 7:47 The Vanishing 9:52 The One Person 10:59 Where Did the Money Go? Sources disagree on some details, including the amount stolen, the number of police and why Alicia went to the police. The video says so where it matters. Nobody knows exactly how much was taken, because the boxes were never listed. Getaway Ink: heists, escapes and unsolved cases. Subscribe for the next case. #heist #truecrime #bankheist
