It will be the same procedure for all Mercedes w163 from 1998 to 2005. You will not need any special tools in order to remove the transfer case. However, you will need a short 8mm wrench for the top and the side bolts. There are 11 8mm bolts that you will need to remove in order to remove the transfer case.
