I hiked a popular trail Leggjarbrjótur (Leg breaker) in 2 days in the middle of August. Leggjarbrjótur is around 17 km long ancient trail that connects Þingvellir and Hvalfjörður and is normally hiked in one day but I wanted to experience some more camping before summer is over and was lucky to find a good spot for putting up a tent near Myrkavatn lake at around 400m above sea level. Our family dog Húgó accompanied me and this was the longest hike I´ve put on him so far and he did just great. No legs broken! At the end of the hike we turned to Brynjudalur valley and not Botnsdalur valley that Leggjarbrjóttur leads to as I was not sure about how much water was in Botnsá river that we would have to cross and I didn´t want to risk it with Húgó.
