This is an overview of a three-phase-inverter that I designed!
Hardware Design - KiCad
I engineered a 6 layer, high-voltage, high-current PCB with creepage/clearance compliance, heavy copper planes, and optimized, low-inductance routing for robust and safe MOSFET half-bridge switching at 120 volts and tens of amps.
Implemented full galvanic isolation between high-voltage switching and low-voltage control circuitry through isolated DC-DC converters, MOSFET gate drivers and Analog-to-Digital converters (ADC).
Embedded Systems Design - STM32Cube, C++
Designed open and closed loop control algorithms on the NUCLEO-G474RE to perform brushless-DC motor commutation.
Per-phase, voltage control with PWM and hardware deadtime insertion to protect half-bridges from shoot-through.
Optimized current-sense ADC sampling (20 MHz SPI) by leveraging DMA to minimize CPU processing overhead.
Performed digital filtering through a third-order sinc decimation filter to reduce quantized noise from the ADC.
