Another frosty start in Chertsey! Today was a bit of a "faffy" ride as I navigated my way through the heart of London. I followed the Thames Path past Hampton Court, cut through Kingston, and then headed into Central London. I took a scenic (if slightly confusing) detour past the Royal Albert Hall, through Regent's Park, and past London Zoo. Navigating the city streets and finding my way out towards Waltham Cross was a challenge for the legs and the brain, but I eventually found the campsite at Lee Valley.
Today’s Ride Distance: 45 Miles (Approx).
Route: Chertsey to Waltham Cross via Hampton Court, Kingston, Central London, and Regent's Park. Highlight: Seeing the Royal Albert Hall and cycling through a very busy Regent's Park.

I'm Garry McGivern (Travelsonabike2), and I've been travelling the world by bike since 2008. Solo self-supported bicycle touring on my trusty bike, Passepartout. My vlogs are unscripted, down-to-earth and honest—sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between of a long-distance cyclist. I've now cycled more than 60,000 miles around the world 🌏 and I’m still going.
My video 📹 blogs complement my written blogs, which I publish daily on my website, https://www.garrymcgivern.com/, each time I head off on a bicycle tour. Bear in mind when watching. The video 📹 is unscripted and recorded as I cycle along 🚲, and might not be of the highest quality. The footage is then cobbled together when I get home. It's certainly no Hollywood 🎬 production. But it might just make you smile and inspire you to get on your bike and head off on your own bicycle tour.

DCM Journey & Awareness: As many of you know, I live with Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy (DCM). Today was a real test of my patience and coordination. The extreme cold at the start made packing up the tent a 2.5-hour ordeal, as my hands were completely frozen [02:42]. Navigating busy city traffic in London also adds a layer of stress when your balance and coordination aren't perfect. I’m also looking ahead to next week, with hospital appointments for both my hip on Wednesday and my neck on Thursday. It’s a constant balancing act between staying active and managing the reality of this condition.
