#SCOSoundbites - Eagle Totem Concert: Chamber Charms: Night of Bowed-Strings Date: 23 February 2024 Composed by Li Bochan This work, composed for bowed-string chamber ensemble, is the 37th work in the composer’s canon. Humanity’s reverence for the eagle is embedded in many of the world’s cultures; for the Mongolians, the eagle is a symbol of the sacred. This work portrays what the composer admires in the eagle – its vigour, bravery and sharpness, and its broad field of vision as it soars into the sky and looks back down across the vast landscape. Ascribing human qualities to the eagle, the work also exalts the eagle’s innate magnanimity and tenacious spirit.
