In this episode of Learn With Me, I attempt to write Acid House for the very first time!
Acid house is defined by hypnotic, repetitive bass loops, stripped-back arrangements, heavy use of slides and accents, and the iconic sound of the Roland TB-303. Drawing inspiration from artists like 808 State, Sleazy D, Future, and Hardfloor, I build a track from scratch using Ableton Live.

In this session, I cover:
Drum Layering: Building classic drum machine patterns using Roland TR-909, TR-808, and TR-505 samples, processed with Waves BB Tubes saturation and UVI Tape Color.
The 303 Sound: Emulating the iconic Roland TB-303 using the free JC-303 VST plugin by Media Labs, automating filter cutoff, envelope mod, and resonance to create evolving acid lines.
Hardware Processing: Running my synths out of Ableton through physical overdrive pedals on my pedalboard (His Matisse and Mandrake) for aggressive distortion and texture.
Arrangement & Mixing: Creating ascending and descending lead lines, arpeggiated synth loops, sub-bass sidechaining, and mastering the final track with iZotope Ozone 11.
