Finding the story got harder this trip: one client, 3 theme parks, and a real risk the whole episode reads as an ad. Here's what I found in Xcaret, Xplor, and Xenses instead.
This one's a hosted trip to Grupo Xcaret's parks in Mexico's Riviera Maya, timed right around Dia de los Muertos. Xplor is the adventure park: an amphibious mud ride through the jungle, a 400-meter swim through an underground cenote river past bats and stalactites, and a zip line course that ends with 2 flights straight through waterfalls. Xenses is the sensory park: a pitch-dark Sensatorium you feel your way through, an upside-down town that flips your sense of up and down, and a zip line I still call my favorite ride of the whole trip. Xcaret is the cultural park: the Day of the Dead cemetery called the Gateway to Paradise, the Mayan underworld of Xibalba, home altars, marigold flowers, and a night walk through the jungle with the spirits.
3 hosted parks and one real question: did this end up as a story or a commercial? I ask you directly at the end, and I'll tell you which of the 3 parks actually became my favorite once I watched it back. It wasn't the one I expected.
