Chase Infiniti Reveals How She Became a Math Prodigy for The Julia Set

How do you convincingly play a math prodigy when the math your character understands is far beyond anything you can actually do? That was one of the challenges Chase Infiniti faced while taking the lead in The Julia Set. In this interview with Perri Nemiroff at TIFF 2026, Infiniti is joined by Christopher Briney, Chlöe Bailey, Nico Hiraga and Jason Isaacs to break down how they brought the world and characters of The Julia Set to screen. Infiniti explains how she overcame her initial anxiety about playing a gifted mathematician and reveals the advice that helped her tap into Julia’s confidence and talent. She also discusses how meeting her co-stars helped unlock the relationships that ultimately shaped her performance. Briney reveals he joined The Julia Set shortly before production began and explains how an unexpected discovery during a costume fitting finally made his character click. Bailey explains how she soared playing Julia's best friend in the movie, while Hiraga breaks down his character’s passion for Go. Isaacs also gets candid about imposter syndrome, reviews and why, after decades in the industry, he believes actors should let go of external validation and focus on enjoying the opportunity to tell stories. 00:00 Intro 00:34 What is The Julia Set about? 01:26 Chase Infiniti on becoming a math prodigy 03:05 Jason Isaacs on talent and self-confidence 04:11 Who helped the cast believe in their talent? 06:41 Jason gets candid about imposter syndrome 08:17 Chase on building Julia through her co-stars 10:18 Christopher Briney had days to prepare for the movie 11:23 Chlöe Bailey on her connection with Chase 12:58 Nico Hiraga on learning the game of Go 14:19 Jason Isaacs praises the film's first-time director #thejuliaset #chaseinfiniti #christopherbriney #chloebailey #jasonisaacs For interviews, movie reviews, and more visit https://collider.com FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL   / collider     / collider     / collider
