After diving headfirst into the deeply moving, epic history of Cape Town, we kept the energy surging by stepping straight into a sensory explosion at GOLD Restaurant! @AfroTriping Steeped in a vibrant history of its own, this iconic establishment was founded in 2007 by Cindy Muller to challenge cultural stereotypes and celebrate pan-African pride. Originally located on Strand Street, it later expanded into a massive, multi-level former nightclub warehouse in Green Point to offer a larger-than-life window into the continent's rich heritage. From the moment you walk through its antique front doors brought in from Mali, you are swept into a theatrical world of roaring djembe drums, colossal Mali puppets, and an unforgettable 14-course culinary safari.
