As the Radio Punjab Sangat travelled through these old lanes, they were reminded of life before the Partition of 1947, when Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians lived, worked and celebrated together, sharing each other’s joys and sorrows. During the journey, the Sangat also visited the historic Wazir Khan Mosque, one of Lahore’s celebrated heritage landmarks. The name of Wazir Khan remains closely associated with Mughal-era Lahore, while the surrounding streets continue to reflect the city’s remarkable architecture, craftsmanship and centuries-old commercial traditions. The journey also brought attention to the Sikh heritage connected with Kanwar Nau Nihal Singh, grandson of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and son of Maharaja Kharak Singh. Considered an important heir to the Sikh Empire, Nau Nihal Singh died in mysterious circumstances in 1840, making his story one of the most tragic chapters in the later history of the Sikh kingdom. Walking through Lahore therefore became more than sightseeing. It was a journey through shared memories, cultural ties and the history of Punjab. These places remind us that heritage lives not only in monuments, but also in human relationships, memories and the spirit of coexistence. ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੌਣਕ ਭਰੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਸਮੇਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। Radio Punjab ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੰਘੀ ਤਾਂ 1947 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਕ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਹੋਈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ, ਮੁਸਲਿਮ, ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਾਈ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ, ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਸੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਸਜਿਦ ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਖਾਨ ਵੀ ਵੇਖੀ। ਵਜ਼ੀਰ ਖਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁਗਲ ਦੌਰ ਦੇ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਇਲਾਕਾ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਲਾ, ਇਮਾਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਖਾਸ ਪਛਾਣ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਗਤ ਨੇ ਕੰਵਰ ਨੌ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਪੋਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਖੜਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ। 1840 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹੱਸਮਈ ਮੌਤ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਅਧਿਆਇ ਬਣੀ। ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਸਿਰਫ ਇਮਾਰਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ, ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਵੀ ਹਨ। Presentation - Radio Panj Presenters - Shinda Sureela, Trivedi Singh & Sukhwinder Gill.
