This is a screen-capture video from a TuneLing for "Ophelia" from the album "Cleopatra", by The Lumineers. This song is also available in a separate TuneLing video for ukulele! Notes: This song is as simple as they get, both in terms of its composition, and its production. But it's approaching 1.7 BILLION streams on Spotify, so clearly, it resonates with a pretty big audience. It's very approachable for newer players on guitar with a capo, and even more so on the ukulele, with no capo needed. While almost all of our videos start with a metronome count-off that WE add into the video, in this case, the original recording starts with an eight-beat count-off all by itself, so we just use that instead. There really aren't many other technical points to mention - the video is quite self-explanatory. One interesting point, however, is the use of the A shape on guitar (ignoring the capo), or the C chord on the uke. In the verses and bridge, that A shape (or C chord) is clear and obvious. But it's also used in the verses. It's there, but it's less clear, mostly because it's played by piano, which is more melodic there, so the chord is not as clean. There's also a lot of reverb on the recording, which kinda blurs what you hear sometimes. So in the less obvious places, we've notated that chord where we think it belongs, but you could almost use the Bm (or Dm on the uke) there instead, and people might not even notice. This is not a critical point - it's just an observation about how the record was produced. Finally, the astute observer will notice that there's a completely different song with the exact same name, by The Band, which is also available on this channel, and is a TON of fun to play!
