How people live in Fiji, away from the resort beaches: more than 300 islands, about a hundred of them lived on, and three in every four people living within five kilometres of the sea.
In 2014 the village of Vunidogoloa moved two kilometres inland, away from storm surges and a shoreline the waves kept eating. The government has since counted more than 600 coastal communities that may one day need to move.
In this film we look at how people live in Fiji day to day: the kava circle, the reef a village closes to fishing on purpose, the lovo feast cooked under the ground, the season of storms, and the bond between people and land that the iTaukei call vanua.
