Enter Shikari’s Rob Rolfe: 20 Years of the Band, Music & What Matters

As Enter Shikari announce that the band will go dormant at the end of 2027, we revisit this conversation with drummer Rob Rolfe — a fascinating look at the music, influences and experiences behind one of Britain's most distinctive bands. Rob joins Mark on The Mixtape to talk about the excitement of creating and performing new music after more than two decades together, playing Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club and the extraordinary lengths Enter Shikari went to in creating their album artwork. There's also a great discussion about why physical music still matters. Rob talks vinyl, CDs and cassettes, the difference between owning music and streaming it, and why putting genuine time and effort into creating something can be as important as the finished product. Then Rob builds his own six-track Mixtape, revealing some of the music that shaped him — including Rage Against the Machine, Jackie Wilson, José González, Tony Williams and Louis Armstrong. Enter Shikari have announced that, from December 31, 2027, the band will become dormant as a recording and performing entity. The band have stressed that they don't consider it a split, with their long-term future currently left open. 🎙️ The Mixtape with Mark 📻 Radio Fremantle 107.9FM | Perth, Western Australia Subscribe for more long-form conversations with the artists behind the music. #EnterShikari #RobRolfe #TheMixtape
