Ding Liren takes on Vincent Keymer at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2026, and this game stayed incredibly close for a long time.
Ding opened with the Réti, keeping his center flexible and looking very comfortable while Keymer spent considerably more time on the clock.
The game remained balanced even after Ding won a pawn, but then one rook move changed everything.
In this video, I go through the key moments of the game, including the first major evaluation swing, Ding’s critical Rc5 move, the pawn race, Keymer’s huge think, and the endgame sequence that eventually forced the resignation.
I’m not a chess master, so this is less about pretending I know everything and more about watching a high-level game, using the evaluation bar, and trying to understand what actually caused the position to change.
If you enjoy this kind of breakdown, leave a like and let me know in the comments if you want to see more professional games analyzed from the perspective of a regular chess player.
