In this episode of My Physics Lab, I had a detailed conversation with Sougata Bhunia, currently pursuing his PhD in Nanoengineering & Nanoscience at National Taiwan University (NTU), Taiwan. His doctoral research involves optical metrology, AI-driven super-resolution and semiconductor nano-inspection. We talked about what it actually takes to move from studying Physics in India to pursuing research abroad — particularly in Taiwan. Sougata shares his journey from a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Calcutta, followed by an M.Sc. in Electronics Science from Jadavpur University (2025), to research training in Taiwan and eventually a PhD position at NTU.
