DANGA PARK JB 🇲🇾 New Family Park, RM20 Foreign Entry & A Suspicious Payment Encounter

Come with me to Danga Park in Johor Bahru, a relatively small family-oriented recreational park with children's play areas, water features, food trucks and other attractions. Danga Park is located at Danga Bay, Johor Bahru, and is designed primarily with children and families in mind. There are several playground areas and recreational facilities, although I found the park itself fairly small compared with some larger parks. 🎟️ Danga Park Admission One interesting thing about Danga Park is the different admission arrangements for Malaysians and foreign visitors. 🇲🇾 Malaysian citizens: FREE 🌏 Foreign visitors: RM20 for adults 👧 Foreign children aged 5–12: RM10 Malaysians need to bring their MyKad or MyKid for verification at the entrance. These admission details are also confirmed by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB). 🍔 Food & Things to See The park is mainly aimed at children, with playgrounds and recreational areas. There are also a few food trucks where visitors can get something to eat or drink. There are also features such as the elevated walkway, children's playgrounds and dry water-play areas. 🤔 Something Strange Happened When I Tried to Pay This was the most unusual part of my visit. As a foreign visitor, I knew that I needed to pay the entrance fee. I initially went to the entrance intending to pay using the self-service payment machine. However, one man told me to simply go inside. Later, another man approached me and directed me towards a table and chairs. At first, I thought I was being directed to a bag-check area. Instead, I was told that I needed to pay RM20. That left me confused because I had already seen the payment machine at the entrance. I started wondering why I was being asked to pay in cash rather than using the official-looking machine. I even wondered whether there was some reason why the cash payment was being handled away from the machine, particularly because the park has CCTV. But to be clear: I don't know what was actually happening, and I'm not accusing anyone of wrongdoing. I'm curious whether other foreign visitors have experienced the same thing. 👉 Did anyone else get directed away from the payment machine and asked to pay RM20 in cash? If you've had a similar experience at Danga Park, let me know in the comments. 📍 How to Get There Danga Park is located at Danga Bay, 80200 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. 🚗 By car: Drive towards Danga Bay and navigate to Danga Park. 🚕 By Grab: Search for Danga Park or enter the Danga Bay location. 🚌 By public transport: Take a bus serving the Danga Bay/Johor Bahru area and continue to the park. The park is also relatively close to the Johor Bahru city centre and is about a 10–15 minute drive from the Causeway under normal traffic conditions. 🕐 Opening Hours According to MBJB, Danga Park currently operates daily from 7:30am to 11:00pm. There is a temporary closure from 6:30pm to 8:00pm for maintenance, with final daytime entry at 6:00pm and nighttime entry at 10:30pm. Overall, Danga Park seems best suited to families with young children looking for a relatively compact recreational outing in Johor Bahru.
