Miami Just Proved Why It Deserves To Be No. 1

Joe DeLeone and Blake Ruffino share their Miami vs Florida State reaction and explain why Miami football deserves the No. 1 ranking in the 2026 AP Top 25. After a 43-35 double-overtime win over FSU, Mario Cristobal’s Hurricanes remain unbeaten and firmly in the ACC championship and College Football Playoff conversation. Darian Mensah threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, while Malachi Toney delivered 11 catches for 154 yards and two scores. Toney caught the go-ahead touchdown in the second overtime before throwing a two-point conversion to Cooper Barkate. Javian Mallory added 108 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and Bryce Fitzgerald’s interception sealed the rivalry victory. Miami reached No. 1 in the AP poll for the first time since 2002. Joe and Blake discuss why surviving a rivalry test still matters in the college football rankings, what Miami’s offensive playmakers reveal about its national championship ceiling, and where Cristobal’s team must improve. They examine the penalties, defensive breakdowns, and response under pressure that shaped the Florida State matchup while weighing Miami’s case against the country’s other top contenders. This video covers Miami Hurricanes football news, Miami vs FSU reaction, Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney, ACC football, and the Hurricanes’ CFP outlook.
