The Black Mountains' Western Ridge | Crickhowell Starting Point | South Wales

This video shares with you, my hike along the Western Ridge in the Black Mountains, South Wales. The 16 mile hike starts in Crickhowell at the southern end of the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park. From Crickhowell, I headed up onto Table Mountain at 451m, then up again to Pen Cerrig-calch. From Pen Cerrig-calch trig point at 701m, I followed the Western Ridge in a northerly direction, passing Pen Allt-mawr trig point at 719m, Pen Twyn Glas and Myndd Llysiau. On reaching the Cairn south of Pen Trumau (part of the Dragons Back Walk), I headed right and then in a southerly direction into the valley. The return leg of the hike was down the Llanbedr Valley to Cwm Banw River/road junction. Then the final 3.5 miles was along minor roads back into Crickhowell.
