Divine International University is preparing to host its first-ever Edu-Tourism Run, an initiative designed to combine education, tourism promotion and community support. The event is scheduled for November 7th, 2026, in Fort Portal City, bringing together participants to support educational opportunities for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the Vice Chancellor of Divine International University, Professor Adolf Mbaine, the run is intended to raise funds that will be used to provide scholarships to girls interested in pursuing education and careers in the tourism and hospitality sector. The Vice Chancellor says the initiative is also intended to encourage more young people to explore opportunities within Uganda's tourism and hospitality industry. The organisers say the choice of Fort Portal is significant, given the area's tourism potential and its growing profile as a destination for visitors interested in nature, culture and adventure. The funds raised through the run will support scholarships targeting disadvantaged girls, with the organisers seeking to give beneficiaries an opportunity to acquire skills and qualifications in tourism and hospitality. The initiative comes at a time when Uganda continues to promote tourism as an important contributor to employment and economic development. Organisers are now calling on members of the public, students, tourism stakeholders and well-wishers to participate in the inaugural event and support the scholarship drive.
