What does it take to become a Shaolin monk?
You begin as a small six-year-old boy in a poor village beneath Songshan Mountain. You are weak, bullied, and searching for something you cannot yet explain.
Then you meet a monk who shows you that true strength doesn't always need to fight.
You leave your family behind and enter the Shaolin Temple. But instead of learning kung fu, you spend your first months sweeping floors, carrying water, scrubbing bowls, and working until your body aches.
The real training comes later.
You endure brutal horse stances, mountain runs, flexibility training, weapons practice, meditation, and years of repetition. You learn to master the staff, sword, and spear. At eighteen, you face a decision that will change the rest of your life: take the vows and become a Buddhist monk.
But becoming a monk is only the beginning.
This is your journey from a frightened village child to a disciplined Shaolin master — a life of sacrifice, patience, humility, and self-control.
Because the greatest opponent you will ever face is yourself.
