Piracy and Plays -The Sack of Baltimore

In 1632, in the middle of the night, a small village in West Cork was attacked by Algerian pirates. 108 residents of Baltimore were captured and taken to a life of slavery in North Africa. Little is known of their fate. Almost 400 years later the current Baltimore villagers are staging a play which looks at how the raid came about and the complex political background of the time
