WHAT IF THE SEAHAWKS HAD RUN THE BALL February 1st, Two thousand Fifteen. Super Bowl XLIX. The Seattle Seahawks versus the New England Patriots. Two minutes left in the game. Patriots up 28-24. The Seahawks have just done something miraculous — taken the ball from their own 20-yard line all the way to the Patriots' 1-yard line with 26 seconds to go. One yard. One single yard between Seattle and a back-to-back Super Bowl championship. And on the sideline, they have Marshawn Lynch. Beast Mode. A man who, at that very moment, had the entire country ready to watch him bulldoze through a brick wall if someone asked him to. The whole world — fans, analysts, casual viewers, people who didn't even watch football — everyone knew what was coming next. Give the ball to Marshawn. And then Russell Wilson threw a pass into the end zone. A rookie cornerback nobody had heard of named Malcolm Butler stepped in front of it. Intercepted it. Game over. Patriots win.
