How To Build a Lithium Battery (Part 1 of 2)

In this tutorial, I'll provide step by step instructions on how I built a 48 cell lithium ion battery pack out of 18650 cells. First I'll cover the mechanical structure and how the cells are held together. Next I'll go over how to join cells together to form parallel and serial connections. I'll show a lot of the details that go into spot welding, and some good techniques to used. I'll cover how to add a battery management system to the pack to enable proper charging, and not damage any cells. I'll show how to solder on the balance lines while minimizing the heat absorption by the cells. This is part 1 of a 2 part series. In Part 2 (coming soon!)
