MUNUNURI NDINOMUDA is a treasured Shona Christian hymn of salvation, forgiveness, guidance and victory through Jesus Christ. (Found as Methodist Shona HYMN #25)
From its opening declaration — “Mununuri ndinomuda” — the hymn gives reason after reason for loving the Saviour:
He saves.
He forgives.
He cleanses.
He gives light.
He guides.
He strengthens.
And when the battles of the heart become difficult, the testimony remains:
“Anokunda dzose hondo,
dzinonetsa mwoyo wangu.”
He overcomes all the battles that trouble my heart.
In this Shoko muNziyo reimagining, the hymn is carried by choir, low-key brass band and gentle African percussion, allowing its message of assurance and victory to remain at the centre.
This is not simply a song about overcoming outward battles. It is also the testimony of a believer who has discovered a Saviour who walks with them through weakness, suffering, uncertainty and the unseen struggles of the heart.
Mununuri ndiye Jesu.
Jesus is the Redeemer.
Shoko muNziyo exists to preserve treasured Shona Christian hymns while allowing them to breathe again through new musical interpretations.
We are not creating a new church, replacing the hymn book, or competing with the traditions that carried these songs before us. We are creating a shared digital space where these hymns can step beyond the pages, cross generations and denominations, and continue speaking to believers today.

📌 PINNED COMMENT
Welcome to this new sound of MUNUNURI NDINOMUDA 🎺🥁💜
There is something powerful about the progression of this hymn. The singer doesn't simply say “I love my Redeemer” — verse after verse tells us why.
He saved me.
He forgave me.
He cleansed me.
He gave me light.
He guides me.
He strengthens me.
And then comes that beautiful assurance:
“Anokunda dzose hondo,
dzinonetsa mwoyo wangu.”
May this old hymn find a fresh home in your heart today. 🧡
Did you grow up singing MUNUNURI NDINOMUDA? And where are you listening from?
