Living in Nepal — a 4K documentary on how people build a home on the most dangerous ground on Earth. Himalayan villages, glacial lake floods, landslides, and valleys where the land never stops moving.
At the end of one summer, the Bhote Koshi stopped behaving like a river.
What came down the valley was grey, thick as wet concrete and loaded with
rock, and it arrived as a pressure in the ground before anything was
visible upstream.
Nepal sits on the seam where India is still driving into Asia, two inches
a year, and the Himalaya are still being pushed higher because of it.
Forty-two glacial lakes sit at critical risk above inhabited valleys,
hundreds of landslides come down every monsoon, and the capital is built
on the bed of a drained lake.
People build there anyway. This film is about how: the walls a farmer
rebuilds every year, the airstrip cut at a twelve percent slope because
flat ground does not exist, the three brothers who keep one field whole
between them, the animal that makes altitude liveable, and the ten
thousand suspension bridges that put nineteen million people within reach
of the other side.
We make 4K documentaries about travel and the world's most beautiful
destinations — the famous ones and the ones you'd never expect. New film
every week. Subscribing is free and it makes all the difference.

Our thoughts are with the people of Nepal, and with every family in the
valleys that lost a home, or someone they loved, to this year's floods.
This film was made with respect for them.
