You look closer — and realize it’s not just a rock, but a sea urchin or an ammonite that lived almost 180 million years ago. The road from Batumi took about three hours. Hills, forests, tiny villages — and then the landscape opens up into wide valleys and red clay slopes filled with traces of prehistoric life.
